Avis
Sturdy and thinker steel then some other beds we looked at. Looks great too!
These are beautiful and were fairly easy to put together. A lot of bolts and screws, so lots of time to put it together, but not difficult. I decided to make one large bed and one small bed. It works best for my space. I would absolutely build a few more.I wish I got them earlier, but they were back ordered for two months. Which I think is typically a good sign, people love them.
I made one to form a circular shape and love it. I plan to lengthen the second one using the side panels I didn’t use in the first one. I love them, they are easy to assemble and look lovely.
Putting this together isn't hard, but man, there are a lot of nuts and bolts. If you use the tiny tools they provide, you’ll be there all day. Do yourself a favor and grab a power screwdriver—it cut my assembly time down to about 30 minutes. Once it’s bolted together, it’s incredibly sturdy. I bought the beige one and it’s a lovely neutral tone.
I shopped around for weeks before choosing Garvee. For the height and the quality of the galvanized steel, this is the best deal I found. It’s sturdy, looks clean, and doesn't cost a fortune. If you’re on the fence about metal vs wood, go with this. It’s much less maintenance in the long run.
Nice raised bed, but building it is a challenge. Holes don't match up and edges are sharp as well as the screws. Once it is together, it is pretty nice and substantial in size. Seems very sturdy and has bars across to help it from bulging out. Plan on using the outside of the back deck and having herbs and flowers.
The open bottom is the main reason I bought it. Roots can grow deeper, excess water escapes, and I don’t get that sour smell after a big rain.
These are pretty nice. I bought two of these 10ft x 4ft and it is sturdy. It has been sitting outside in the rainy/sunny weather for two weeks and i have not seen any rust so far. Easily assembled. Good quality and size for the price.
Pretty much as described on the Garvee page. While it can be put together by one person it's nice to have a second pair of hands. It makes working through the 66 nut/bolt installs go faster. Give yourself a nice clear workspace at least 5 feet square. Because of rain I wound up assembling the unit in the house. It's light enough for one person to haul around but having a second person helps. Someone with disabilities is going to have trouble doing it on their own. The planter has two internal braces to keep it from bowing when filled with dirt. All of the edges were smooth and finished. I did notice a few bubbles in the exterior finish. I don't know if these are going to pop and peel as the weather gets to them but so far they have not. The instructions are okay. It's not rocket science. They do give you a couple extra nuts and bolts which was good because one of the nuts had thread problems and another nut was just plain the wrong size (too large). They provide tools to install the nuts and bolts. We used the included tools to do a couple bolts and then we used our own pliers and electric screwdriver. Access to an electric screwdriver makes assembly go faster. When filled with dirt and then watered I did notice some water seeping out from a couple of the bolt holes. I don't know if this was due to the bolts not being tightened enough or the holes being too large. It really doesn't make a difference, enough water was staying in the planter to get the dirt moist enough to grow plants. If you're worried about a little muddy water on the side of the planter then just spray it with the water hose and it will come right off.
